Precious metals
Platinum
Platinum is a white metal, but unlike gold it is used in jewellery in almost its pure form (minimum 95% pure). As one of the most prestigious precious metals available, Platinum is extremely long wearing and is very white. Platinum is also very dense (heavy), so a platinum ring will feel heavier than an 18ct gold ring.
Gold
Gold is dense, soft, shiny and the most malleable and ductile of the known metals. Pure gold has an attractive bright yellow color. There are two things to consider when looking at gold. First, which gold carat to choose and second, the colour or the combination of gold colours available, such as yellow gold, white gold and rose gold.
Sterling Silver
Sterling silver is a white-grey coloured metal. As a softer metal than gold, titanium and platinum, sterling sliver is a popular alternative to these more expensive metals.
